Overview of the Role
The Gauteng City Operations Manager will be the local eyes on LULA’s operations team, and own city-specific business outcomes, bridging the overall business strategy with local needs.
The key objective of this function is to ensure complex, business-critical compliance work is done, in a high-quality way and to champion the core LULA experience across the Gauteng region.
The Operations Manager will support the General Manager and Head of Operations in understanding and developing LULA’s growth in the local market by building strong and lasting relationships with our operator and driver network. The City Operations Manager is a people manager who will lead efforts across clients, operator and driver networks networks within a geo-fence of a city and its surrounding neighbourhoods.
The position plays a key role in the business, requiring flexibility and an innovative mindset to enhance LULA’s regional operations and contribute towards business growth.
A combination of communication and stakeholder management skills, a savvy analytics mindset, strategic thinking, strong execution, and the interpersonal ability to collaborate with teams from across the business will put you in place to succeed.

Duties of the Operations Manager
The Operations Manager will be responsible for undertaking the following duties:
- Develop, grow, and maintain our driver supply funnel
- Develop local expertise of supply and demand within the Gauteng area
- Make decisions to provide the best selection and experience within your territory
- Build vision and strategy for winning best practice in your city
- Managing contracts and relationships with drivers, operator, partners, and other business stakeholders
- Coordinating the deployment of drivers and operators to deliver LULA’s services to our valued clients
- Driving customer satisfaction through effectively aligning passenger and logistics services to the needs of LULA’s clients
- Designing and enhancing operational policies and processes, which align to the overall strategy and business needs
- Conducting onboarding and training for drivers and operators
- Consolidation and processing of weekly driver payments
- Consolidation and processing of customer invoicing and billing
- Responding to customer queries and managing feedback mechanisms
- Providing leadership and mentoring for other members of the Operations team and across the business
- Developing business strategies in collaboration with the leadership team, and taking responsibility for implementation of strategic projects
- Advise and collaborate with the product and developer teams to improve our product and technology processes
- Evaluating risk, putting in place measures in response to identified risks, and leading quality assurance efforts
- Ensuring compliance with local and international laws (e.g., data protection, driving permits, etc.
- Innovating and leading efforts to generate additional revenue and increased margins through enhancements to LULA’s existing products and services
- Supporting the General Manager and other members of LULA’s leadership team in scaling LULA’s operations in Gauteng
Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum of 4 years’ work experience in an operations, strategy, transportation / mobility (Highly Preferred) environment
- An entrepreneurial attitude towards solving problems
- Demonstrated experience in the mobility industry and/or logistics industry
- A Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, finance, or related field (preferred)
- An analytical thinker who uses tools to make data-driven decisions (Advanced MS Excel skills are key)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong ability to make business judgements based on data and implement measurable solutions
- Experience in project management and an obsession with detail.
- An entrepreneurial mindset, passion for building things, working towards a shared goal, and ownership of outcomes
- Experience working closely and communicating effectively with diverse set of stakeholders in an ever-changing, rapid growth environment
